Why should ECO Lifestyle and Lodge be on your foodie bucket list?
ECO Lifestyle and Lodge is an intimate boutique hotel with a restaurant attached that’s worthy of its own mention. Located in Tent Bay on the East Coast of Barbados, you’ll find fantastic and original cuisine at ECO Restaurant.
So, let’s talk about the food.
It’s a farm (and sea) to table restaurant, which is fitting in a place of such natural beauty. No meat is served here. There is seafood on the menu (as you’d expect from a coastal restaurant), making this restaurant “mostly vegan”. Produce is organic and locally-sourced, showcasing fresh and vibrant Bajan tropical flavors. That’s also why the innovative menu is seasonal – to ensure guests enjoy only the best of what Barbados has to offer.
Monday through Friday, the restaurant opens for breakfast and dinner (excluding Thursday evenings). And the weekends are kept purely for brunch.
ECO’s green smoothie bowl with superfood toppings is a crowd-pleaser. The lobster eggs benedict is a worthy option too.
The topped toast options are far more exciting than you would expect, thanks, in part, to ECO’s homemade artisanal bread.
Let’s be frank. Brunch at ECO Restaurant is hands-down incredible. A recent offering on the brunch menu was vegan calamari made from coconut jelly. This one has to be experienced to truly appreciate how unusual and just plain outstanding it is.
Bajan spiced truffle mac pie or grilled fresh catch tacos are just two of the dinner options you may see on the no-waste-kitchen menu at ECO.
For dessert, freshly-homemade ice cream in flavors like black sesame and ginger is sure to delight.
The experience at ECO wouldn’t be complete without a locally-sourced beverage. Accompany your brunch with a fresh juice or partake in an artisanal cocktail after dinner. An Aperol Spritz with freshly squeezed Jamaican oranges? Yes, please!
The 10-bedroom hotel and ECO Restaurant are settled within a quiet, unspoilt, secluded location within the Bathsheba community. Renowned among locals and has a good international presence too. Set in the manicured tropical gardens of the hotel grounds. You can even take a scenic hike before or after your meal. As an aside – the hotel (Barbados’ first off-the-grid hotel) is currently for sale.
If you choose to dine at ECO on a Saturday, you’ll get to enjoy some live music as well – what a treat!
ECO Restaurant’s menu is already well-considered when it comes to meeting the needs of travelers with a vegan, vegetarian or plant-based diet. However, the chefs are happy to accommodate any other dietary restrictions that guests may have to ensure they really savor their meal.
ECO Restaurant is in an idyllic location to cater to onsite weddings and special events. For events up to 100 guests, ECO will collaborate on an original menu and even signature cocktails – all featuring the best locally-sourced produce of course!
